This jacquard cushion cover is an extract from the famous tapestry of Queen Matilda, now in the Bayeux Museum in Normandy. It appears to have been commissioned by Odon de Bayeux, the half-brother of William the Conqueror, and describes the events surrounding the Norman conquest of England in 1066.
